Now that it’s cold weather I’ve been working on getting all the electronics in order, mostly the TVs. Not that we are planning to watch a bunch of TV while seeing the country, my belief is it is better to have thing ready in case you want to watch a movie when it’s crappy weather when on the road.
Coach Ella has two ‘smart’ TVs. The term ‘smart’ I’ve come to learn is a misnomer for a TV considered smart in 2014 is now considered not supported (and just a TV in my book). The coach’s two TV are a Vizio and a Samsung both from about 2013/2014 time frame. While Samsung is a ‘good’ brand name I’ve come to learn the Vizio is a much better supported TV. The Samsung TV has a Web Browser dated 2010, so no web pages can really be viewed (even CNN can’t be accessed). The Samsung TV has version 1110.1 firmware and Samsung claims that version 1220 should be able to be installed, more than two days have been spent with their tech support folks on getting this TV updated. I’ve come to the conclusion this TV is stuck at version 1110.1. I can access Netflix and Amazon Prime, the platform is not compatable with FreeVee TV (owned by Amazon Prime). So this Smart TV is religated to a regular TV with Netflix and some portion of Amazon Prime video support.
